Philip Hector Taylor was born March 12, 1902 in Worcester, Mass. and died October 28, 1986. He graduated from the University of Maine in 1924 with a B.A. in Economics and from Stanford University in 1936 with a Ph. D. in Political Science (International Relations). The Socialist Party (U.S.) was founded in 1901, bringing together moderate socialists from the Social Democratic Party, and dissident members of the Socialist Labor Party.
